The unique ‘Maker Space’ on campus, the first of its kind in Bangalore, imbibes design thinking, where students experiment with ideas and build prototypes. Over the years, students have worked and created several useful products and solutions addressing the pain-points of society.
CMRIT has several jewels in its crown: an award by the President of India for an innovative and frugal technique to diagnose infectious diseases; an international medal for outstanding contributions to advance material science and technology; fellow titles from Stanford University; training for students at Google Mountain View, USA; an award at Microsoft Vfest; an award at Texas Instruments Challenge; awards by IEEE; a Portuguese innovation medal; a gold medal at the India International Innovation Fair; as well as several top ranks in the university.
Students and faculty have also come up with various innovative prototypes for society – a technique to clean polluted lakes in Bangalore, pervious concrete blocks for pavements to avoid water logging and to help replenish ground water, a radar system to locate humans buried in snow, a device to read and convert digital content into Braille for the visually challenged, an economical 3D printer, a micro air vehicle ‘Ornithopter’, not to mention ‘Irrigatronics’, a student enterprise incubated at CMRIT, provides indoor gardening devices with intelligent watering systems.
Our alumni are placed in various reputed organizations including Microsoft, Facebook, and Apple. SAP Labs, Deloitte, KPMG, Mercedes Benz, Robert Bosch, HP, IBM, Amazon, Sony, Flipkart, Ericsson, Ernst & Young, Goldman Sachs, Hitachi, Dell, Nokia-Siemens, AIG, Societe Generale, Huawei, Mu Sigma, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Capgemini and Accenture, while many others visit our campus for placements. Our students are also pursuing higher studies in reputed global institutes.
Being at the heart of India’s Silicon Valley, we collaborate with several reputed companies to train our students in the latest technologies and industry practices, organize industrial visits, invite visiting faculty from industry, conduct guest lectures, workshops and conferences, facilitate summer internships, and host centres of excellence. Several industry-specific training, soft skills training, and value-added certifications are provided to make our students ‘industry-ready’.
All this is possible because of a very strong faculty from reputed institutions, who have the expertise in different domains and industries, research and academic experience. Many faculty members have grants from industry and government for executing projects.
