CMR Jnanadhara Trust
The CMR Jnanadhara Trust, established in 1990, pays tribute to the late Sri Chikka Muniyappa Reddy, a pioneering educationalist and philanthropist who championed the cause of quality education for all. In keeping with his vision, the CMR educational institutes were set up to provide every student with an opportunity for an exceptional, value-driven, and holistic education. The Trust supports and manages all the activities of the CMR Group of Institutions, ensuring that the founder’s legacy continues to inspire and empower future generations

The CMR Group of Institutions, managed by the CMR Jnanadhara Trust, is a distinguished educational conglomerate based in Bangalore. It encompasses a wide array of institutes of higher education, Montessori/K-12 schools, and various Centres of Excellence dedicated to training, research, and consultancy. With a diverse community of over 20,000 students, including international learners from more than 60 countries, CMR is committed to fostering academic and professional excellence.
Supported by nearly 1,000 highly qualified faculty and staff, CMR offers a broad spectrum of academic programs covering disciplines such as Architecture, Design, Engineering, Economics & Commerce, Law, Management, Science Studies, Social Sciences & Humanities, and Education. In collaboration with National Public Schools, CMR promotes Ekya Schools, a brand of boutique schools with multiple campuses across the city. CMR has also partnered with the National Education Trust to establish the NPS International School on a lush 6-acre campus in Singapore, further extending its global educational impact.

Leadership
Dr. K C Ramamurthy, Former Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha and Chairman, CMR University and CMR Group of Institutions began his career in the late 1970s as a lecturer of Economics, later joining the prestigious Indian Police Service in 1982. He worked in various capacities for the Government of Karnataka, including roles such as Registrar-Bangalore University, Director – Kannada and Culture, Commissioner-Youth Services and Sports and Inspector General of Police-Bangalore City. Dr. Ramamurthy was nominated as a Member of the Rajya Sabha and as an active participant of the Upper House, he has tabled numerous questions and engaged in policy discussions spanning topics in Education, Urban Development, Women and Child Development, Youth Affairs and Sports to name a few
Dr Sabitha Ramamurthy is a lady with a vision to provide high-quality education to her community. She founded the CMR Jnanadhara Trust in 1990, and the Trust first started the National Junior School (now CMR National Public School). What began as a modest school in an orchard, is now a full-fledged CBSE school that appends to its laurels. Today, the CMR Group runs more than 20 institutions in Bangalore, educating thousands of students every year. Dr Sabitha Ramamurthy’s approachable personality, her vision for the future of education and her child-centric approach is an inspiration to parents and students alike.
Dr Ramamurthy founded Ekya Schools to bring pedagogically sound, research-based learning experiences to India. She spearheads K-12 initiatives under the CMR Group, overseeing state board, CBSE, ICSE and pre-university institutes, totalling an overall strength of over 8000 students.
Dr Ramamurthy holds a Bachelor’s degree from Singapore Management University. She has a Master’s from Stanford University School of Education and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Education from Kings’ College London. Her past research has focused on topics including educational equity, teacher motivation, education policy and curriculum construction.
Her child-first approach to education has brought new globally acknowledged methods to the CMR group’s educational identity.
Shri Jayadeep KR leads from the forefront as CEO of CMR Group of Institutions and Pro-Chancellor at CMR University. Having pursued a successful career in Architecture and completing his Masters in Business Administration in the United Kingdom, he sits at the helm of one of India’s leading Private Universities. Apart from overseeing infrastructural developments of several campuses of CMR University, CMR National Public School and Ekya Schools, Shri Jayadeep has set his sights on a renewed vision for the future of private education in India.
Shri Jayadeep’s vision as CEO of CMR Group expresses through his work. Today, CMR University ranks as the 10th Most Sustainable Institute in India, thanks in no small part to his monumental efforts. To lead and nurture CMR University to be in the Ivy Leagues of Indian Education is most assuredly a target that beckons for him. His mission towards redefining the perceptions of Private University Higher Education in India with a focus on innovative and imaginative prowess is steadily underway. While he stands on the shoulders of giants, Shri Jayadeep KR has already paved the way for future generations to receive quality education in an environment that demands constantly evolving pedagogy and renewed infrastructure.
